Depart to Phan Thiet city, the south of Mui Ne.
- Visit the Posanu Cham Tower, once the hallmark of the prosperous Champa Kingdom, which thrived in this region from around the 7th century to 1832, Poshanu Cham Towers are perched on a hilltop with views of Phan Thiet and the distant coastline. On site are two towers in the shape of linga and yoni from the Hindu tradition and dedicated to the fire deity. There is also a temple where the buffalo deity Nandi was worshipped.
- Then heading to the south of Phan thiet city to Ta Ku Mountain, the southern boundary of the nature reserve follows the coastline, beginning where the nature reserve stretches inland for about 20 km. The nature reserve is bordered on the west by the Phan river, and to the north, the Tre stream forms the border. These two rivers flow into the East Sea on both sides of the nature reserve.
Most of the nature reserve consists of low, rolling hills, at elevations from 50 to 100 m. The reserve has a total area of 11,866 ha. The most significant and obvious feature of the reserve is Ta Kou Mountain, which rises to an elevation of 694 m.
Visitors may hike up the mountain for free or take the Cable car through a beautiful tropical rainforest to the pagoda at the top. The focal point of the mountain is the spectacular statue of Buddha entering a state of Paranirvana, the final nirvana of enlightened beings. Built in 1963, the statue is 11 metres high and extends for 49 metres. The statue is located in the Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda.
- Return by the A1 highway just west of Phan Thiet is lined with dragon fruit vendors and our tour will make a stop here for visitors to have a look. Initially the fruit was grown for ancestral offerings and décor, but entrepreneurial Vietnamese recognised its economic potential and now farms cover thousands of hectares 30 kms from Phan Thiet. Originally a seasonal fruit, farmers have taken to shining lights on the fruit at night to create year long harvests.
- On the way back to Mui Ne in the afternoon, our guide will take you to visit Phan Thiet Market, A hive of activity where women hack away at fish and meat, stall owners sit atop tables and surfaces are piled high with exotic fruits and other goods. As a foreigner, it is impossible to pass by unnoticed but the attention is unobtrusive.
